Queen 16 weekend kicks off a week on Friday (17th Feb) with the Pre Party, No Scrubs at Electric Circus.

Bgirls from across the UK will be descending on Edinburgh to battle to qualify for the Queen 16 final in Germany.

The battle takes place at Ocean Terminal (18th Feb), we have some open slots to qualify for, so get yourself there for 1pm to register.

DJs KCL from Copenhagen and Edinburgh's Finest Ritchie Ruftone will be on the decks, and returning hosts Shelltoe Mel and Sparkles will be on the mic. Judges James the Robot, TrubL Roc and Bboy Stevo will be making the decisions.

Alongside the 1vs1 Bgirl Battle we're running a 7 to Smoke open to all. Get your name down on Facebook or register on the day to take part.

Afterparty on the 18th will be at Cafe Voltaire on Blair Street with the amazing Shaka Loves You. Time to get down.

Finishing off the whole weekend there are two workshops on 19th Feb at Ocean Terminal. 1pm to learn some new moves with TrubL Roc and 2.30pm to improve your DJ skills with KCL.

Queen 16 at Ocean Terminal went off with a BANG

We had a great time at the Pre-Party - No Scrubs at Electric Circus getting down with @msmixtape on the decks. Definitely worth checking out this monthly night of 90s and 00s Hip Hop.

The day of the competition started relatively smoothly with the help of SIN Cru. Bboys Szymonster, Noodle and Reecently laid the lino under the careful supervision of TrubL roC. The music started at 1, and while the competitors registered people started warming up and throwing down with DJs KCL and Ritchie Ruftone on the decks.

After the 7toSmoke and Queen 16 qualifiers the judges (James, Stevo and TrubL Roc) stepped away to put there heads together for the top 7 and top 8 of the entrants.

The Bgirl battles were superb, such a high level, an inspiration to us all. More footage can be found on our Instagram and Facebook. Chaz Bonner of Resurgence Scotland (@resurgencescotland) was also in the crowd and did a great job of capturing the battles and broadcasting some of the live and direct!

After a hard fought 7 to smoke Bboy Noodle emerged the winner and was awarded a bag of goodies from (among many generous others) prizes from Pieute, Spectrum Arts and Focus. Three independent shops definitely worth checking out if your in Edinburgh.

The Bgirl battles came down to the wire, and BGirl Ginseng emerged the winner. Ginseng wins a flight to Germany and a place in the Queen 16 Finals in Leipzig in April. We can't wait to see her smash it!

The after party at Cafe Voltaire was dope with DJ and percussion from Shaka Loves You.

Carrying our hangovers into Sunday we had a great workshop with SIN Cru, taught by TrubL Roc and assisted by Noodle, followed by a DJ workshop with KCL.

We had a great time and hope you did too. Read all about it in the Herald article. Or listen again to Radio 4 Women's Hour where we talk about Hip Hop and Bgirls.

Thank you to everyone, and keep an eye out on Insta, Facebook and Twitter for footage, photos and more.

Invited Bgirls: Zana, Ginseng, Rawgina, Lil Fox, Angel, Fidget, Muni, Shortbread and Fox
